The truth is that the bed-in-a-box mattress industry has sprung up (get it?) almost overnight. Ever since the patent for memory foam mattresses expired and Tempur could no longer charge £3,000+ for a mattress, it was perhaps inevitable that this would happen.
If you’re just getting started, then it’s important to do as much research as you can, and we’re glad you’re here.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of buzzwords and plenty of mumbo-jumbo floating around in the mattress sector. Airgocell this, Stratos that. Phrases like “moisture-wicking” may sound impressive, but what do they actually mean?
We created WhatMattress in 2018, almost by accident. What started originally as a single blog post, sharing the pains of buying a mattress in the UK, has morphed into something much bigger. Since then, many things have changed for the better, but buying a mattress is still an absolute minefield. The mattress companies promise the world, then refuse to even acknowledge you if things go wrong. It’s frustrating and we know it’s enough to drive you round the bend.
WhatMattress strives to be completely different to the other mattress review websites out there.
Why? Well, many mattress review websites are just marketing channels trying to sell you something. Here at WhatMattress, we write honest and unbiased mattress & sleep tech reviews that include both the good *and* the not-so-good.
